Seattle Parks and Recreation is shortening its opening hours at both Golden Gardens + Alki Beach this summer to 4 a.m.-10 p.m., starting Fri., May 27 through Sun., Sept. 4. The change comes in an effort to reduce crime and illegal activity that typically occurs after hours in these locations. 🏞️ (My Ballard)

Boston Properties real estate company recently acquired a 37-story Madison Center office tower for $730 million, making this the largest multi-tenant office sale the nation has seen in 2022. And we have lift-off. Teams from Newport High School in Bellevue finished first + second in the American Rocketry Challenge, which took place in Virginia this past weekend. A total of 724 teams from across the US competed to see who could build the best rocket to carry two raw eggs in a 40-41 second flight. 🚀
Legacy -
Ken’s Market founder Kenneth Giles died earlier this month at the age of 91. Growing up in Greenwood, Ken had strong North Seattle roots and bought his first store at 73rd St. + Greenwood Ave. in 1955. The Port of Seattle has joined several PNW maritime organizations + leading cruise lines to explore the feasibility of a “Green Corridor.” Basically, the corridor would be a maritime route with zero greenhouse gas emissions, and the group has committed to researching potential tech, economic + policy solutions. 🛳️

Congrats to Dr. Jocelyn Thomas.
