The Washington Supreme Court has made the decision to not draw the new congressional redistricting maps itself, giving final approval to the redistricting commission’s bipartisan draft. The commission’s proposal was a day late, therefore turning over authority to the court. (The Hill)

Muralist Stevie Shao has brought a little more color to Ballard with a piece commissioned by the Ballard Public Arts Committee.

Stevie says the inspiration for the mural came from the Norse tale of Eikþyrnir, or “oak-thorny,” a stag that sits in Valhalla eating leaves from the tree Læraðr. As legend has it, water flows from the stag’s antlers, then courses into all of the rivers in the world.

Stevie is also behind several of Ballard’s utility box paintings + various other works throughout the city.

Editor's Pick: I do love all the lights at this time of year, but I don't always go out of my way to see them. Hot chocolate is a different story, though. I will always track that down — my sweet tooth requires it.
