Black Friday brings out the best deals from all the major retailers, but Small Business Saturday is when the lovers-of-all-things-local come out to shop.
From grabbing an ube latte at Hood Famous Cafe + Bar to kickstart your shopping adventure, to strolling through Occidental Square for a Pioneer Square retail event, you can make your entire Saturday a local experience. Fun facts from Small Business Saturday last year:
To help you sort out your retail plans, we’ve compiled a list of local businesses participating in Small Business Saturday. 📍 4228 Stone Way N. ⏰ 10 a.m.-6 p.m. 🛍️ Billed as a spot for “thirsty nerds,” the unbeleafable Wallingford tea shop features blends named after video games, sci-fi hits, and literary classics. It’s offering 20% off single origin teas all day.
📍 4547 California Ave. SW. ⏰ 12-8 p.m. 🛍️ There are tons of great outfits, accessories, and handbags to choose from at this stylish West Seattle women’s boutique, which is giving away a $20 gift card for every $75 spent for both in-person shoppers and online orders using the code “Shop Small.” Psst: There’s also a cool speakeasy in the back serving up cocktails and New Orleans-influenced dishes.
📍 1205 E. Pike St. ⏰ 11 a.m.-7 p.m. 🛍️ The trendy clothing store includes some sharp threads, like this Clyde the Sasquatch tee, all while supporting LGBTQ+ designers. All weekend long, everything in the shop will be 20% off with discounts on mug gift packs as well.
Pro tip: Intentionalist — which supports local + diverse small businesses — has a searchable map with other Small Business Saturday offers. EVENTS

#SEATODAY
What’s this massive mask doing in a bike shop, you ask? Well, Seattle BMX owner Jade Linton had been taking care of the traditional lion dance costume after a neighboring Thai restaurant closed down in 2014.

Editors Pick: Happy Thanksgiving, Seattle. I'll definitely be stuffing my face today, with side dishes top of mind. My co-editor Alina loves to make mac 'n' cheese and I have a soft spot for sweet potatoes with marshmallows. I'm also pro green bean casserole, although I realize there are strong opinions to the contrary. (Alina's a firm "nah.")
